Serving Teton Valley
Hello! Please read below and then reach out if you would like to work together.
About
I have been practicing massage on and off since 2018 when I graduated from the East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon. I was motivated to attend massage school after burning out from the corporate world partly due to physical issues in my neck and back. I had a surgery on my back while in school and used the learnings of the school plus countless hours of massage and other forms of bodywork (mainly long needle acupuncture) to recover. The tangible benefits of massage are why I am still able to play in the mountains today and I am forever grateful to discovering this work and am passionate about sharing it with others who may benefit.
The practice
My style is very much therapuetically focused and tends to deep tissue oriented, with intention. It is far from a spa massage, but not deep just to be deep. I believe there is a well-functioning body underneath the layers of dysfunction that we tend to naturally accumulate over-time; we just have to work through some of those layers to access it.
[Helpful 5min 'fuzz' video linked to the right that explains this].
I would call my specialty working with anyone who is having activity inhibited by physical issues that wants to understand why and is willing to work through it. This could be specific injury recovery or addressing chronic issues that have grown overtime. I do not want 'forever' clients and believe that if this work can help someone (which it almost always can), the majority of benefit will come after 2-3 sessions working through a specific issue (and we should know almost immediately in the first session whether it will help).
Please keep in mind I am far from a doctor. Significant tears, breaks, severe herniations or impingments (among other things) may require care outside of what I can offer. That said, I am willing to explore however I may be able to help with significant physical issues. If you feel like you've tried everything and failed, let me try to help.
As mentioned, the work tends to be deep. But it is very much intentional. I have clients in their 80s who can receive the work with positive results and have worked on folks who are very sensitive to pressure. It is not a matter of subjecting the body to unneccessary pain, but rather very targeted work modulated to the person and their tissue quality.
What to expect in your first visit
Please budget 75 mins for your first visit and bring/where shorts and a tank top that you'd be comfortable wearing at the gym or beach. I want to be able to access your skin while also keeping you comfortable at all times. I will have sheets if needed for draping but prefer to be able to move around and move you around comfortably. The extra 15 minutes is to have a thorough conversation about your health history and what is bringing you in.
More specifically, expect to spend the time on a massage table face up, on your side and potentially face down with us discussing the work as we go. Pillows and props will be used to support your body and you will know exactly why we are working in the areas we are working. While a lot of massage is done facedown, I am a strong believer that frequently its tension in the front body causing pain in the back and the 'secret' is frequently in the sides!
Rate
The rate for new clients is $200/hr. I offer a sliding scale for TV locals who need the work where that is too much. I also offer a 'pay what you think is fair' for the first session if you decide it is not worth the cost and you do not want to continue with future sessions, no questions asked.
First sessions are typically 60 minutes. Future sessions are 60-90 depending on the complexity and number of issues we are working on. A 90 min session would be $250.
Please do not contact me looking for a same day or next day appointment, couples massage or any type of 'fluff and buff'. If you do not live in the valley or surrounding area, please be sure to have read the above thoroughly and only reach out if you are interested in serious bodywork to address specific issues. If you come in for a tune up before or after a ski week you are more likely to feel sore than immediately rejuvenated. Please go somewhere else.
For returning clients, I will always make myself available if something acute pops up and you are in need.
